Client Style Guide

This guide was created to help take the stress out of planning outfits for your session. Below, you’ll find recommendations on colors, textures, patterns, and styling choices that photograph well and work beautifully together. Whether your session is for family, maternity, couples, seniors, or branding, these tips will help create images that feel cohesive, natural, and true to you.

Maternity

For maternity sessions, I recommend choosing a flowy dress in soft, neutral tones. Dresses with movement photograph beautifully and help create a timeless, flattering look while still keeping you comfortable throughout the session.

Family Sessions with Kids

When dressing kids for family sessions, comfort matters just as much as style. Children tend to photograph best when they feel comfortable, can move easily, and are not distracted by itchy fabrics, stiff shoes, or outfits they normally would not wear. I recommend soft, neutral clothing with simple patterns or textures that coordinate with the rest of the family without being overly matched. Layers, knits, and earthy tones photograph beautifully while still allowing kids to feel like themselves. It is also a good idea to avoid clothing with large graphics, neon colors, or characters, as they can pull attention away from the connection and emotion in your photos. Happy kids make for relaxed, genuine images, and comfortable outfits go a long way toward that.

Hair & Make Up

Professional hair and makeup, while never necessary, can make a big difference in helping to make you feel confident and camera ready for your session. I have partnered with Samantha King at Tru Tone salon on many occasions. She can be reached at (479)629-0901 or on social media at @blonding.bysk

Hats are NOT recommended, they cause a shadow on the face. There is a slight exception for cowboy hats for aesthetic purposes. :)
